Virgin Atlantic changes award tickets, more fees and more expensive mileage tickets

London-based carrier Virgin Atlantic has had an increase in taxes/fees for mileage-based tickets. Virgin has changed its fees to be upwards of 1800 pounds round-trip for mileage tickets. This is because Virgin relies on carrier-imposed fees as part of its pricing model. In addition to this, Virgin has changed its system to make miles tickets more expensive in an attempt to have more revenue passengers on board, where they make money. Other than on Carrier Imposed fees, there is no revenue from a reward seat. On a cash ticket, the airline can get thousands in revenue, allowing for profit to be made. The point being that Virgin Atlantic wants to try and get more revenue tickets, and not reward tickets, so that they can increase ticket revenue, especially in premium cabins.
