What U.S. airlines are adding to their hubs
Fort Worth-based carrier, American Airlines, and competitor based in Chicago, United Airlines, are introducing new airport lounge infrastructure for their premium customers. This started recently when United Airlines wanted to allow premium customers in a rush or having a tight connection to still be able to get food before their connecting flights. For United Airlines, this was a huge success, as in most of their key hubs, like Chicago, connections can be very tight. American is now making a similar product, called Provisions by Admirals Club. This offering will open at Charlotte International Airport later this summer. This concept if successful, will likely be added to many connection hubs, including Chicago, Miami, Philadelphia, Dallas, New York, and more. Looking toward the future, I think this is a huge competitive boost for American Airlines. As a frequent flier and Admirals Club member, I often have tight connections, and a quick bite of food can be incredibly helpful in such situations. Especially when connecting from a partner airline like British Airways or Iberia in a big airport.
